War Is A Human Experience That Affects People Essay
War is a human experience that affects people greatly. To some people, war is a source of pride, but to many it is a horrible, violent, and life changing experience. When war comes up in any conversation, it evokes negative feelings in a person like pain, hurt, and even sadness. Many individuals have been direct victims of war and some are indirectly affected but still influenced, nonetheless. War continues to be a pervasive subject and an inspiration for many artists to draw upon. Many artists use art to express their feelings about war and get their perception of it out to the public. A lot of these individuals use art to increase awareness in people and to let them understand the negative impacts of war. One such person is a woman named Edith Birkin, who is not only a survivor of the Holocaust, but is also an artist who drew images of the situation and victims that were caught up in this horrific event. Through her artworks, Birkin is able to vividly portray her experiences and pu t on to canvas what happened to the Jews during the Second World War. Her paintings allow individuals to see the conditions during the war that left many people in pain and scarred for the remainder of their life. In 1933, the rise of Hitler to power initiated the advent of the Holocaust. He instilled in the minds of German people that they are the dominant race and that the inferior race, the Jews, should be eradicated to stay superior.
